'Oceans' singer ties the knot, fellow bandmate officiates ceremony
Taya Smith from Hillsong United tied the knot last Friday. "We got married yesterday and it was the GREATEST; I highly recommend it," the newly married "Oceans" writer posted to Instagram on Saturday. "It was like that because of Jesus & the people He has placed in our life for such a time as this and we are blown away by all the love, support & kindness."
Fellow bandmate and worship leader Jonathon Douglass ("JD") who officiated the ceremony wrote, "Marrying a couple is something I count as a high honor... When its people who you love and have become an older brother to, then it is beyond words!!! Loved being a part of your special day @tayasmith and Ben love you guys sooo much!!!!"
Other Hillsong United members shared their own photos of the happy couple along with sentiments about the day. Joel Houston wrote, "And then..... this happened! The most beautiful of days, amongst the most wonderful of people, celebrating the most phenomenal of occasions... and so say all of us!" Brooke Ligertwood posted, "Our TayTay is a married woman! (she was the most STUNNING bride today - my eyes couldn't even take it in - I'm dictating this caption to Scotty to write because my eyes haven't recovered from how ridiculously beautiful she was)."
Taya's whimsical pink and white bouquet was done by florists "The Sisters" and her beautiful wedding photos were captured by photographer Anabel Litchfield. Her breathtaking mermaid style dress was created especially for her by Liz Martinez Bridal, who specializes in modern yet elegant wedding dresses.
Leading up to marrying her fiancé Ben on March 23, Taya took the time to thank some of those involved in the wedding details as well as credit her Savior for having His hand in her special day. After picking up her dream wedding dress earlier in March, Taya wrote, "As our wedding day gets closer, things just keep falling sweetly into place & it feels like little kisses from heaven that are actually wild & beyond my best idea / thinking of how it would all go. Jesus you're in every season and I'm thankful for your presence in this one especially."
