'Better Than I Used To Be' first new music since 2015's 'Just Kids'
For fans missing Mat Kearney's voice and wondering when new music will appear, the wait came to an end when Mat released a new single earlier this month. "I know it's been a while. I didn't think it would take quite this long to get new music to you but a lot of unexpected things happened this year -- bringing a human into this world and starting an independent label to name a few," Mat said concerning the song. The single, "Better Than I Used To Be," is the first new music from Kearney since his 2015 hit album Just Kids.
The single is a light-hearted, upbeat track about learning that life doesn't always turn out the way you imagined when you were young. "It's about growing, chasing a dream, and how hard that can be sometimes." Kearney says. "Chasing this dream of mine is something you all have allowed me to do over the years -- something I am so grateful for. I can't wait to share the new music, shows and videos I have been working on." A music video for "Better Than I Used To Be" has been filmed and is coming soon.
In addition to spending time with his new daughter Olive Sims, Mat is currently recovering from knee surgery due to a skateboarding accident while on tour. Follow Mat on social media here for continued updates.
