This week’s featured song story comes to us from Lauren Daigle. We’re excited to share with you the story behind her song “Winter Wonderland.”
“One of my favorite things about recording new songs for Behold was recording the song “Winter Wonderland.” It was one of those moments in the studio where I was completely nervous because we weren’t planning on recording this song and then we threw it in at the last minute. There was a really special moment where the bass player Chris took me into another room and said ‘hey listen to these chords, listen to these changes.’ These are kind of the notes in between that make this song super special. And it was a highlight moment for me because I felt like I was kind of sitting like a first grader in a classroom really nervous and then this man who has been around music for years and years and years I was able to learn from. So I would say recording “Winter Wonderland” was an absolute highlight.” – Lauren Daigle Click on the video below to hear Lauren share the story.

We’re excited to introduce Hawk Nelson's new single “Parachute.” It’s a song that frontman Jon Steingard considers one of the most important songs they’ve ever recorded and we’re unveiling the stellar new video shot entirely on an iPhone at the White Sands National Monument in New Mexico for it right here.
“I think sometimes as Christians we feel like we’re supposed to have all the answers for everything and we feel like everyone else has it figured out, but we don’t. Here’s the deal guys, not one of us has it figured out. Not one of us knows exactly what we’re doing in this life and that’s why we need Jesus so much. And so this song of ours “Parachute” gets to the core of our relationship with Jesus. That He’s in our lives because we need Him and only He can rescue us from the situations in our lives that we need rescuing from. Only He can bring us the salvation and the hope and the peace that we need. I just loved writing and recording this song because it feels like a song that’s honest about how we really feel. We don’t have all the answers and that’s why we need Jesus.” - Jon Steingard (Hawk Nelson) Click below to hear the story behind the song.

This week’s featured song story comes to us from Darren of the band We Are Messengers. We’re excited to share with you the story behind his song “Maybe It's Okay.”
“I believe that God works all things together for the good of those that love Him. But I can't escape the fact that we're hurting, anxious, disappointed, and afraid. This song is my surrender. By admitting that I need God to put everything right. I find that Jesus is with me in the heartache holding onto me and leading through the tough times. Everything sad is being undone. But it's going to take a little time. Getting well is a messy business. So, take it easy on yourself. God has taken every mistake, every hurt, and make it something really beautiful. I'm in the reality of where I am right here, right now, and I'm trusting in Jesus. I've realized, maybe it's okay, even when I'm not okay.” –Darren, We Are Messengers Click on the video below to hear Darren from We Are Messengers share the story.

This week’s featured song story comes to us from TobyMac. We’re excited to share with you the story behind his song “Scars.”
“For the first time in my life I found myself sending ships out of the harbor. Up ‘til now our family, our home, it’s been the harbor. People I love the most are going out and facing the pain, the struggle and the temptation of this crazy world.I’m very aware of the scars that come with life’s journey, but sometimes we insulate those things from the ones we love, our children. So to see them go out there and do this real world it’s painful. I wrote this one for my boy. I wanted to let him know that I’m here for him and God is there for him. So lift your head my son to where your help comes from.” –TobyMac Click on the video below to hear TobyMac share the story. The Breadcrumbs widget will appear here on the published site.
Tenth Avenue shares the story behind their new song "Afraid".
“When I was a kid I was scared of the dark. Then I grew up and I learned to be scared of a lot more things than just the dark. Now I’m scared for my health, scared of not being able to provide, scared of politics, terror, the list goes on and on. Fear is just the consequence of believing the lie.So why am I afraid? What lie am I listening to? Whose voice am I listening to? In other words fear is the result of believing that voice that I was hearing as a kid. This is where Psalm 62:11-12 is really helpful cause it says, ‘once you have spoken, two things I have heard. That You O Lord are strong and that You O Lord are loving.’ So next time fear washes over you why don’t you ask yourself which voice are you listening to? Me, I don’t want to be afraid so help me to listen.” – Mike Donehey (Tenth Avenue North) Click on the video below to hear Tenth Avenue North share the story. This week’s featured song story comes to us from The Afters.
“Someday we’re all gonna leave this world. We’re gonna leave behind the pains, the hearteache, all the struggles of this world. It’s all gonna be washed away and we’re gonna go before Jesus. We’re gonna find ourselves in a place where we belong more than we’ve ever belonged before. A place where we’re more at home than we’ve ever felt before. A place where we’re going to experience a love unlike we’ve ever known before. And we’re gonna go before Jesus and hear the words ‘well done my good and faithful servant.‘” – Josh Havens (The Afters) Click the video below to hear The Afters share the story. This week’s featured song story comes to us from Unspoken. We’re excited to share with you the story behind their single “Just Give Me Jesus.”
“We’ve all felt discontentment in our lives. Nothing we have is never enough and over the past year I’ve really felt that in my life I’ve been chasing after the things God can do for me and what I can do for Him. And I felt more like his employee than His son.And I’m realizing that what changed my life 15 years ago is still what I’m longing for today. And that’s Jesus. To know Him and to be known. To love Him and to be loved. And it’s only through an intimate relationship with Him that we can truly be satisfied.” – Chad (Unspoken) Click on the video below to hear Unspoken share the story.

This week’s featured song story comes to us from Sanctus Real. We’re excited to share with you the story behind their single “Confidence.”
“Confidence is a prayer. It’s a prayer to see the world selflessly. Not a prayer to be in the lion’s den but a prayer to have such unshakable faith in the kingdom of heaven that we are willing to go through dangerous things.Moses never made it to the promise land. He only was able to view it, but his hope was in God’s plan for God’s people. The plan that he contributed to. He knew it was so much bigger than himself. Confidence is a prayer to see this big picture, to walk humbly, to do what you feel He has called you to do. The truth is real confidence comes from real belief. Belief in a creator that does see this big picture, who does call the unqualified to do unimaginably big things.” – Sanctus Real Click on the video below to hear Sanctus Real share the story.
